Hair
Hair can be composted or dug into the garden.
Handkerchiefs
Buy a supply of cotton hankies and use these rather than paper tissues. They take up very little space in a load of washing and it avoids the energy costs associated with manufacturing, packaging and transporting paper tissues.
Hangers
- Do you really need the hangers offered to you when buying clothes?
- Refuse the shop’s plastic hangers (they will be reused) and invest in some long lasting wooden hangers for your wardrobe instead.
- Ask at your dry cleaners if they would like the hangers given out with dry cleaning returned, many will take them back for reuse.
